EHS Manager (INTERNAL)

Summary

The EHS Manager implements, executes, and ensures compliance with Mom’s Meals environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Direct, develop, and oversee the general health and safety policies and procedures of the site
  • Direct the site to ensure compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted
  • Support corporate programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, and the use of protective equipment
  • Maintain a systemic process to collect data, analyze the causes of accidents, and generate required reporting.
  • Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity and provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives
  • Implement initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards
  • Drive timely completion of corrective actions associated with near-miss incidents, accident investigations, and compliance inspections
  • Lead execution of each site’s annual Health and Safety Program, including development of expense and capital budgets needed to support these efforts
  • Drive organization to achieve annual targets for incident frequency, severity and related cost reductions
  • Assist with Workers Compensation claim management and action plans
  • Lead implementation of job safety analysis and risk assessments for all jobs, equipment and facilities
  • Create and deliver safety training content and programs and serve as Train the Trainer
  • Establish and lead emergency response and evacuation planning
  • Demonstrate knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, monitoring, and compliance with EPA, DEQ, and local regulatory requirements. Experience in managing permits, sampling programs, and coordinating corrective actions
  • Support the management of ammonia refrigeration systems, including PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program) compliance. Ability to lead inspections, training, and emergency response planning related to ammonia hazards

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible safety leadership and management experience with direct accountability for workplace safety and health 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong working knowledge of regulations and requirements
  • Skill and Knowledge in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction in a diverse set of environments, including machinery safety, warehouse operations and occupational health
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment managing multiple assignments
  • Proven record of accomplishments in successfully designing and executing a workplace safety program
  • Consultative approach with strong problem-solving, collaboration, networking and influencing abilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solver with an emphasis on execution
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Organized and task oriented
  • Ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience working in a high growth organization
  • Experience in a food environment
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to all sites and locations

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) 

Physical Requirements

  • Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
