Healthcare Contracts Attorney (INTERNAL)

Summary

The Healthcare Contracts Attorney will primarily be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a range of complex healthcare contracts to support Mom’s Meals’ business. It will assist the Contracts Manager in reviewing and revising processes for increased efficiency, and work with all department leaders, primarily the Sales leadership team.  Prefer candidates local to Iowa, but can be remote outside of Iowa based on skills and experience.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Maintain current knowledge of, and support compliance with, applicable laws and regulations
  • Draft, review and negotiate payor contracts, as well as RFQ and RFP support and a range of NDAs, all within an agreed approval matrix and legal policy framework
  • Negotiating terms and conditions and developing relationships in the best interest of the company
  • Assist in reviewing and revising current processes, structures and procedures for efficiency and support projects
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating contracting database and records
  • Establish good working relationships throughout the department and across all business units, primarily the Sales leadership
  • Stay up to date with healthcare regulations and review contractual language to ensure compliance
  • Work on special projects as requested

Required Skills and Experience

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and admitted into a state bar
  • 5+ years of experience in the areas of corporate or healthcare law and knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations 
  • Possess advanced working knowledge of subject matter
  • Experience negotiating, drafting, and implementing more advanced/complex contracts for managed care plans, health systems, or government agencies
  • Strong attention to detail and possess commitment to providing excellent client service
  • Ability to quickly identify and analyze problems to form an opinion and offer practical advice to the business
  • Possess high-level legal drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and strong ability to professionally interact with other employees, customers and suppliers
  • Solid computer, organizational and follow-up skills: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, CRM Sales databases

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience with government contract law, health law and managed care

Physical Requirements

  • Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
