Training and Development Specialist (INTERNAL)

Summary

The Training and Development Specialist position will create, organize, plan, and present various forms of orientation and skills for employees. Develop unique training programs to fulfill employees’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills. Partner with key stakeholders to create and/or acquire training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.  This position is specific to Intake training. It may be hybrid in the future, but will be onsite for an extended period of time during in-person training.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Develop and deliver training to ensure successful attainment of department goals and objectives
  • Monitor individual and team dynamics and to identify opportunities for ongoing training
  • Train on work procedures, work schedules, process improvement initiatives and skill development
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback
  • Develop training in a variety of models, including, but not limited to, classroom-style lectures, videos, e-learning, focus groups, desk aids, etc.
  • Conduct training programs for new hires, along with refresher training and ongoing development for current employees to ensure skills are kept up to date
  • Create and maintain­ training course content, manuals, and other training materials
  • Create, implement, and monitor annual training plan
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to existing processes to senior management
  • Stay up to date on department standard operating procedures 
  • May select and assign instructors to conduct specific training and development
  • Provide day to day oversight of new hires, in collaboration with department supervisors, during orientation, and provide supervisors with updates on progress

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Two years’ experience with training or adult learning
  • Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software with focus on Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Effective decision making ability regarding day to day issues
  • Effective training and meeting skills
  • Excellent listening and feedback skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives

Physical Requirements

  • Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
