Food Labeling Technician (INTERNAL)

Summary

Seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Food Labeling Technician to join our R&D team. In this entry-level position, the candidate will work within the labeling team and be responsible for ensuring that all food products are accurately labeled in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, the ability to collaborate with other departments, and a commitment to maintaining high quality and accuracy in their work

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Review and verify product labels for accuracy and compliance with FDA, USDA, and other relevant regulations
  • Assist in the development and updating of labeling templates and materials
  • Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure that labeling meets all product specifications
  • Perform regular audits of labels and ingredient statements to identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues
  • Maintain accurate records of labeling processes, including batch numbers, revisions, and compliance checks
  • Assist in the training related to labeling procedures and best practices when needed
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production and procurement, to gather necessary information for accurate labeling
  • Assist in coordinating meal label updates to support supply chain adjustments, formula modifications, and ingredient changes, ensuring clear communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned or adapt to evolving needs to support the department’s goals and objectives

Required Skills and Experience

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge of food labeling regulations and industry standards
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with data entry and document management systems
  • Basic understanding of nutritional information and ingredient declarations
  • Working knowledge of general mathematics
  • Ability to work in cold environments, prolonged standing, and lift or move objects up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to travel, overnight 15% of the time, for conferences and project-related activities to help support the company’s goals and quality production related to labeling

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a food production or labeling environment
  • 1-2 years’ labeling experience

Physical Requirements

  • Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
