1st shift Sanitation Associate (INTERNAL)

North Jackson, OH | Kitchen | Sanitation | Full-Time, 1st Shift

Summary

Sanitation Associates will have a focus area of either the Kitchen department, Plate and Pack room, Compactor room or Warehouse/general areas of the building; may also help or provide backup for any of these areas. Associates must become familiar with and follow internal Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and ensure FDA and USDA guidelines regarding allergens and food contact surfaces are maintained.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

    • Continually squeegee and clean debris off floors and give prompt attention to cleaning spills
    • Break down boxes/containers and collect/remove cardboard
    • Regularly empty trash cans and transport waste to trash compactor and receptacles
    • Take initiative to assist with general cleaning tasks in the work area, remove clutter and garbage from areas as needed; must be careful not to touch food contact surfaces when doing various sanitation tasks
    • Monitor rooms for condensation and wipe down doors, walls, ceiling, etc. as needed
    • Regularly remove expired food from the Ready To Eat area and help treat and trash unusable food products as assigned
    • Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment and chemicals
    • Transfer dirty items (pans, totes, scoops, carts) to Dishroom for cleaning
    • Help with general housekeeping and organization
    • Follow and encourage others to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
    • May help clean and maintain bathrooms, hand wash stations, break room, or other general office areas
    • May help clean around exterior of the building as needed
    • May help in other areas of the plant as needed (e.g., plating, dishroom, etc.)
    • Help clean and ensure all machines and food surfaces meet FDA, USDA, and internal sanitation standards

Required Skills and Experience

    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
    • Strong observation and initiative skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Attention to detail as sanitation programs are key to preventing listeria, E.coli, and other potential bacteria problems
    • Ability to conduct work tasks without disturbing assembly line or other workers
    • Willingness to cross-train and help in other areas as needed
    • Ability to properly use floor squeegeesand other cleaning tools and equipment; ability to use cleaning chemicals

    • Some previous work-related experience

Physical Requirements

    • Regularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and arms
    • Frequently required to stand, communicate, and listen.
    • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Able to perform repetitive movements
    • Able to work in variable temperatures (cold/hot)

The Forklift Operator will be responsible for performing various duties in the warehouse in a fast-paced lean environment, including but not limited to: Receiving and put-away of all inbound receipts. Loading and shipping all outbound pallets. Picking and loading pallets for shuttle to the Ohio Kitchen. Monitoring inventory levels of all items in designated Pick Line support locations, and refilling before inventory is depleted. Drop, move, and put-away quality impacted pallets as directed by Tech Services. All moved products must be scanned timely and accurately so inventory records are always current and accurate.
