Billing Lead (INTERNAL)

Summary

The Revenue cycle Lead supports their team across a variety of day to day functions including but not limited to submitted monthly/weekly claims, researching denials, reviewing claims for quality assurance, and reporting for the Revenue Cycle department. This position also plays a role in the development and training of current team members.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

    • Submit accounts receivable claims and/or invoices for weekly and monthly billing of assigned agencies
    • Reconciliation of assigned state or local agencies
    • Lead and assist in developing/training new employees 
    • Assist with the transition of team members from initial training to the specific tasks they are assigned
    • First point of contact for team member questions and will escalate to supervisor as needed
    • Generate billing reports of assigned agencies
    • Research and resubmit of denied billings to assigned agencies
    • Review quality assurance of referrals or updated clients from assigned state or local agencies
    • Making outbound & inbound calls, emails to assigned state or local agencies with the purpose of securing correct information regarding new referrals, updated clients, and billings

Required Skills and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 2+ years of work-related experience in healthcare related field, healthcare billing, professional claims, patient registration, and/or patient access

    • Demonstrated success in healthcare accounts receivable experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Outlook (Word and Excel)
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and pays close attention to detail
    • Strong ability to work with team members across multiple departments

Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Previous experience with electronic claims, electronic 835/837 claim and remit files, Zirmed, and/or secure payer web portals
    • AAHAM certification
    • Prefer AA or BA or current pursuit of AA or BA degree in healthcare administration, medical administrative assistance, or healthcare finance
    • Previous experience training team members in Healthcare Revenue Cycle billing, rejection claims, denials, and appeals

Physical Requirements

    • Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
    • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
    • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
