2nd shift Plate & Pack Operator II- Weekend (Internal)

Summary

The primary functions of the Plate and Pack Operator II position are: ensure that input materials are supplied to the packaging line in a timely manner, efficiently operate depositing and labelling equipment, perform weight checks and adjustments, cover Plate and Pack III (P&P III) and Production Associate I (PAI) breaks or absences. Plate & Pack II is a highly flexible position as there could be several unique job tasks completed in the same day. They will need to prioritize and adjust completion timing of tasks to support packaging and plant operations. All Moms Meals team members are expected to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with plant team members, Home Office support personnel, contractors, vendors, etc. to achieve objectives while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. In addition, the P&P II operators are responsible for providing documented hands-on training and mentorship to employees new in position. The Plate and Pack II position is a fast-paced job that requires initiative, problem solving, and decision making with little direct oversight. Plate and Pack II team members must be able to prioritize and complete a multitude of tasks to ensure efficient and smooth operation of the production line. This position may require team members to spend the entirety of their shift in a cold environment (34˚F – 40˚F). The anticipated work schedule will be Monday thru Friday 7:30a – 4p to support plant trials for the balance of 2022. Shift work is anticipated to start January 2023 with shifts working Monday thru Thursday from approximately 06:30a – 5p or 4:30p – 3a. Shift times are M-Th 6:30am – 5:00pm

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand priorities for the day and take initiative to achieve goals with little supervision
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with team members and leaders
  • Adhere to strict safety, quality, and production standards including food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Provide feedback to leadership for opportunities to improve processes, tools, and training documents
  • Assist in machine set-up or tear down at the beginning and end of production
  • Supply and transport required materials to the production line following all safety, food safety, and operational guidelines
  • Collaborate with multiple aspects of the organization to prioritize delivery of material to the production line
  • Organize materials that are delivered to the packaging room in the proper location for use
  • Perform and document case counts, case weights, portion spot checks, and finished meal weights
  • Spot check labels for legibility and adjust as necessary to ensure standards are met for label application
  • Safely operate powered machinery including depositors, pumps, conveyors, film sealing equipment, x-ray, label applicators, tapers and stretch wrappers
  • Provide hands on training to employees new to P&P II or PAI, covering all procedures to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards are understood
  • Document and track the training provided to assigned personnel
  • Help troubleshoot and assist P&P III by safely cleaning out meal waste and keeping machine running under normal operation
  • Support necessary document completion, fill out records legibly and accurately
  • Complete powered industrial truck certification
  • Keep production lines running at targeted rate and fill in for P &P III breaks, lunches, or absences
  • Complete Line PAI duties as required for breaks or vacancies
  • Handle and use cleaning and sanitizing chemicals consistent with applicable safety and quality standards

Required skills and experience

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Pass a post offer drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overnights, or OT as required
  • Initiative and ability to problem solve with little supervision
  • Be able to work in varying temperatures between 34˚F – 80˚F.
  • Time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate in a team environment
  • Read and process detailed written orders in English
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Basic math, weight, and measurement skills (pounds, ounces, etc.)

Preferred skills and experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing and/or food distribution industry
  • Problem solving & reasoning skills

Physical requirements

  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and arms
  • Required to stand, communicate, and listen for a 10-hour shift
  • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb stairs for a 10-hour shift
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Able to perform repetitive movements
  • Able to work in variable temperatures (cold/hot)
  • Must be able to interact with common food allergens
